What is Forma case study builder?

Forma (madewithforma.co) is a specialized case study builder and thinking layer for product designers, UX professionals, and design leaders. It turns unstructured design notes, Figma frames, and project decisions into structured, recruiter-grade case studies using an editorial 7-section taxonomy.

How is Forma different from website builders like Webflow, Framer, Squarespace, and Notion?

Website builders (Framer, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix) only solve visual hosting and layout grids, leaving designers with portfolio paralysis and unstructured walls of text. Notion is a generic document tool without design rubrics. Forma is the dedicated thinking layer before the portfolio: it guides narrative intake, enforces a 7-section hiring structure, tests drafts against design director rubrics, and exports both responsive web links and vector PDFs.

What is the 7-section case study framework?

The 7-section framework is an editorial taxonomy designed for 90-second recruiter scans: 1. Context (business domain & constraints), 2. Problem (quantified baseline friction & stakes), 3. Role & Team (individual ownership & squad setup), 4. Process (iterative trade-offs & research), 5. Solution (final system & interaction craft), 6. Impact (launch velocity & commercial outcomes), and 7. Reflection (key takeaways & future iterations).

What is the Recruiter's Eye evaluation engine?

Recruiter's Eye is Forma's Pro feature that audits case studies against evaluation rubrics used by hiring managers at top tech companies. It evaluates problem framing, craft depth, quantified outcomes, and scannability, pinpointing weak metrics and role ambiguity before you submit job applications.

How do I export and share my case study?

Every case study in Forma can be published to an instant, edge-cached public link (madewithforma.co/c/[slug]), connected to a custom domain (yourname.design) with automated SSL, or exported as a vector-crisp PDF for job portal submissions.

Is Forma free to use?

Yes. Forma offers a Free Starter plan that includes up to 3 complete case study projects with guided intake, the 7-section framework, and PDF export. Forma Pro is available for $5/month (or $48/year) for unlimited projects, custom domains, and Recruiter's Eye rubric audits.
